    So the new TLD is out, is it worth registering .scot and .wales as opposed to .UK? Great .scot domains still available , maybe something along the lines taxi.scot or carhire.scot etc. you get the idea. Is it worth though?

    .co.uk is so deep into the Brits culture online so I think those TLDS are noth worth it

    I think you guys may be missing out on HUGE potential here. While Scotland and Wales are very small countries in size the people of those countries are very passionate when it comes to their nationality and the country where they live.

    I live in the UK and having moved from England to Scotland 8 years ago I experienced this passion first hand.

    Where there is passion for a subject there is money to be made. I have snagged a number of pretty hot .scot domains and some have been purchased for their future value. It's a bit of a punt but one of them is SO on the money I nearly messed my pants when I found out I had got it after going for the pre-release.

    Having local knowledge is so important when it comes to something like this. As an example, there is little point in buying doctor.scot in the hope of selling it to a private doctors practice in Scotland. It may work that way in the USA for example but it's different in Scotland due to the NHS health care rather than everything being private.

    Vet.scot may work as veterinary care is pretty much all private. Even Dentist.scot wouldn't be as popular as it would if it was in the USA as much of the dental practices in Scotland are NHS and general dentists tend not to need to advertise.

    The following would work well in Scotland;

    • weightloss.scot
    • carhire.scot
    • dating.scot
    • speeddating.scot (SpeedDating.London is available by the way)
    • estateagent.scot (Notice how in the UK it's 'Estate Agent' rather than 'Real Estate')

    So, yeah, these new domain extensions are worth bothering with if you know enough about the country they relate to and there are still many really good ones available.

    Thanks,

    shez

    .Scot has real potential if you bear in mind that scots voted 45% for independence. I had to actually cancel a lot of preorders after the no vote. Anyway there are still a lot of good .scot domains if you are looking to start a bussiness here, which I am going to do at some point. For example seo.scot or webdesign.scot (They aren't available but just examples)

    VERY true indeed. Based on this very subject I grabbed some .scot domains knowing what's coming eventually :)
