In IM I've been successfull in youtube ranking and in SEO. Now I find myself in the situation when one of my websites grew so big, that it overwhelmed the others. I'm happy that it gets a lot of google traffic... yet the majority of income comes from ONE page using ONE traffic source. I gave myself a week to figure out how to get traffic from facebook (had a fan page for some time). I tried few methods and got about 700 likes on a page. Here are my thoughts on the subject.
I bought 5000 fake likes long time ago when I was setting up the site - as I thought, those fans are completely useless.
I bought a share at two big pages on fiverr - generally all of them were pakistani or somewhere near that - by the means of money, again completely useless.
I found facebook pages in my niche and scrapped the IDs of people who actively like their posts, then I run ads for them as custom audience. I thought this way many of them will follow. I was wrong, actually 1 like costed my 10 cents and I think that is too much (a 5000 like page would cost $500).
So, I see it is simple to build a big fanpage, but those "simple methods" result in bots or low quality, low income and untargeted fans which are worth completely nothing.
Using facebook ads, when you want to keep at least some quality of the followers they get really expensive.
How the hell in this situation people grow genuine fan pages? I mean those with targeted people from western countries.
Maybe I'm wrong about the price for my targeted likes from ads and 10cents a genuine like is actually how much I need to pay.
I'm not looking for spoonfeeding. I'm just looking for general direction (a link to some method/thread would be awesome).
How would you get likes for a real website's fanpage?
