In IM I've been successfull in youtube ranking and in SEO. Now I find myself in the situation when one of my websites grew so big, that it overwhelmed the others. I'm happy that it gets a lot of google traffic... yet the majority of income comes from ONE page using ONE traffic source. I gave myself a week to figure out how to get traffic from facebook (had a fan page for some time). I tried few methods and got about 700 likes on a page. Here are my thoughts on the subject.
I bought 5000 fake likes long time ago when I was setting up the site - as I thought, those fans are completely useless.
I bought a share at two big pages on fiverr - generally all of them were pakistani or somewhere near that - by the means of money, again completely useless.
I found facebook pages in my niche and scrapped the IDs of people who actively like their posts, then I run ads for them as custom audience. I thought this way many of them will follow. I was wrong, actually 1 like costed my 10 cents and I think that is too much (a 5000 like page would cost $500).

So, I see it is simple to build a big fanpage, but those "simple methods" result in bots or low quality, low income and untargeted fans which are worth completely nothing.
Using facebook ads, when you want to keep at least some quality of the followers they get really expensive.

How the hell in this situation people grow genuine fan pages? I mean those with targeted people from western countries.
Maybe I'm wrong about the price for my targeted likes from ads and 10cents a genuine like is actually how much I need to pay.
I'm not looking for spoonfeeding. I'm just looking for general direction (a link to some method/thread would be awesome).

How would you get likes for a real website's fanpage?

thanx sashablack, but as I said, I already have and ID scraping tool. I am able to scrap targeted IDs from fanpages and graph search, yet I wasn't able to get them to like my page "cheap as F%$#"

hmmm then you might be scraping the wrong ids! You want to pm me your page so I can take a look at it and scrape you a list 10k list so you can test it out?

You can do it by joining groups, it's quite easy to do and it will increase your reach and new likes count a lot. Join a couple hundred groups in your niche and related, after that each time you make a post on your page share it( share not direct post) on a portion of those groups this will make your posts visible to a lot more people and if your posts are high quality you will receive a lot of genuine likes from people interested in the subject.

Do you make some fake user to join those groups? And what you mean by not direct post?

If you want you can make several accounts and share less with each account, if not you can use your main account to share, both work. As for not direct post, I mean you don't go to the group and enter your post link there and press post ( that is a direct post) but go to the page, click the share button on the post you want to share select groups and select the group you want to share to.

Screen Shot 2014-07-22 at 12.23.13 PM.pngf you want real followers you MUST DO SHARE FOR SHARES! Its the only way. if you have a 1k page target pages with 500 fans if you have 10k fans target pages with 8k and lower. To show you proof this works i created a facebook fan page less then 24 hours ago and i have already generated 3000+ likes with not one dollar spent and 100% real and genuine

Hey, what do you mean by "share to share" ? sharing post from other people for to make them want to like your page in return ?
(sorry for my english)

What has worked for me:
1.- Identify your niche
2.- Stick to it with great content posts. (When posting, think about "Would this interest me if I saw it on Facebook Home?")
3.- Once you have about 100 posts do your targeted audience, you can download the free tool I coded for grabbing Facebook UIDs and Emails.
4.- Start advertising each post, invest $1 USD on each one.
5.- Reinvest more money on those posts that gave you more page likes.
6.- Watch it grow the organic way ;)

You're not alone in this. Facebook is the biggest load of shit useless waste of time I've ever seen. There is NOTHONG social about Facebook and is useless unless you're some type of celebrity like Justin Bieber and even then you only get 1 - 3% of your fans to see your post unless you she'll out big bucks to Facebook with ads.

Leave Facebook to high school girls, husbands who cheat on their wives and your aunt FeeFee who shares recipes and complains about the weather.

You can't join groups (or do much of anything for that matter) with fan pages. Can you elaborate?

I'm sure your method works, but here's the problem. Who in their right mind would make half that effort and let alone PAY for traffic on a "social network"? I don't understand why people continue to treat Facebook like a god and literally PAY for what other social networks do for free. Let alone the fact that others do it a hundred times better.

Facebook is mostly useless. It depends on your niche.
I am trying to create fantasy artworks and portraitpaintings and this is my trick to gain fans:

On my mainaccount i have a friendlist with -1600 people. All are gothics, scene hobbymodels etc and i am trying to create digital artworks for fb user with about 2000 people on their friendslist too. It works for me and i would like to have a verified account for generating more fans. But it isnt easy at all. So i will create an ebook with horror short storys from different authors and i will publish it for free. I can write down my artist name on the books cover and get some positive google ranking :) after that i will send an email to fb ad service and ask for verify my account.
I dont earn money with paintings but later i can sell own silver pendants / rings which i could create and earn some money. The gothic/metal niche is not very big but popular and maybe i can sell shirtdesigns and other stuff/merchandising too.

For that creative market facebook will be a good start. But its a hard work

This is not my page but take a look on his postings and likes for each image. I should create timelapse painting videos for youtube, too :D facebook.com/Toni.Mahfud.Photography

But nobody knows if he really draw with real pencil because you can fake those videos with Adobe premier. Photomanipulations could look like real paintings too...... i tried it and everybody thought it was a real painting

Facebook is dead . that's all i can say

lol.. so Facebook is useless for marketing ? If you make this:

1. Create a group.
2. Scrap emails from your niche.
3. In your group, use the "invite by email" and send to all emails that you have.

I was thinking to do this, but since my tool to scrap graph search is not yet finished, I could not to test. Anybody here have tried this ? ._.
