Hello, I have just built my first website. I did basic SEO.
The content is quality and I am targetting one keyword with 700,000 google results.

I did proper meta tags and HTML

I Wrote 80 articles = backlinks and quality traffic. Made a Blog and squidoo. Built more backlinks doing other stuff.

I am starting to rise in the search engine's but somewhat slow. I was wondering what you do to get on the first page of google when there is little search results? Am I missing anything? Thanks Everyone!

good luck on your site

You try out everything. A few blog comments(do follow) some messageboard comments, some social news stories. Even some paid links in there.
Figure out what bumps the site up the most for you.
Then rinse, lather, and repeat. Oh yeah. And somewhere in there, outsource.

hi all
you get it free please

at the end Send payment :D (rapidshare if you have it please thanks a lot)

to get the number one spot, you're going to have to pay a lotttt of money...

It's a combination of a lot of
different factors - and right now,
I'm getting ready to go after a
keyword I know I can grab in
the next month that has:

Results 1 - 10 of about of over 50 million

Is it a keyword I really want?

If I can grab a keyword with that
many competing sites, wouldn't
you say that other keywords will
be easy for most?

It's a custom evaluation and plan,
and it's not that difficult, but after
you've been through hundreds of
hours of SEO stuff - it all makes
sense....

if you guys are checking your competition for your keywords as a broad match (no quotes) that really doesn't tell you what you need to know, that is simply how many pages in googles index that have a random compilation of the words in your keyword.

You need to use either inurl:"keyword" or intitle:"keyword" to really gadge what your competition is, that in conjunction with checking the page rank of the top 10 results, for this check out seo quake, very handy for a quick reference.

See sometimes a keyword may have lots of results using the above queries, but maybe you are competing against a bunch of newbs, and beating their ass would be easy as hell. On the other hand, there may not be that much competition, but if the big boys are on that keyword, don't even bother.

SEO is something that you could easily dedicate years to learning, and having said that, its constantly on the move. But if you know what you are doing with SEO, and you understand niche and keyword research, well then you are in the money my friends.

Here is a great free resource from an SEO expert, check it out :
