How Do You Evaluate a Backlink’s Value

Check if the website looks real and active. That gives a better idea of whether the link is worth the money.

First is authority, followed by traffic and relevance.

I look at the website’s relevance, real traffic, content quality, authority, link placement, and whether the site has a clean backlink profile. A relevant link with genuine visitors is usually worth more than high DR alone.

For me, I usually look at a few key signals:

1. Relevancy – The site should be relevant to the niche or topic.
2. DR, traffic & overall authority – I look beyond just DR and check the site's organic traffic and overall authority.
3. AI citations – If the site is already getting cited by AI platforms, that's an added plus, especially for brand visibility and entity signals.

real organic traffic on the linking page matters way more to me than DA/DR, a link from a page nobody actually visits rarely moves the needle
