How do you earn with Amazon?

I'm currently using Amazon Affiliates on a couple of my websites and make around $25 - $50 a month with an average of 2000 visitors a day combined. On one site I have a store page that lists Amazon products and another I just have some custom Amazon banners on a sidebar that appear on every page.

My question is, how do you gauge your visitors to buy products from your Amazon ref links? Do you have in-text contextual links? Do you write reviews on products? Do you just lay up some banners and hope for the best like me? What method do you use and how effective is it towards your earnings?

Banners are with the worst CTR. Clickable images and good call to action buttons are the best. Also some links in the article.

Reviews are definitely the best strategy for Amazon affiliate products in my experience.

Try to build sites and articles based around the product themselves rather than just sticking products in a somewhat related article.
 
If you are working with AMAZON, Use Link Codes, Don't use banners ;)
you can also combine reviews to it.....

But amazon are very hard! choose something else ;)

Amazon is definitely the easiest product platform you could ever promote... No other website holds as much trust as Amazon does, hence if your website is trustable and you provide good information/reasons why the users should buy it, then they will...

If your target market are basketball players, you might as well put a guide on some specific drills and then put a picture of the product required to complete those drills... again, if your site is trusted, the users will simply click on that image and as Amazon is the fucking king, the chances of purchasing are a lot higher.

If you do reviews/recommendations/ETC, the stats tend to go around the $1k for every 10k to 15k visitors.

Of course, these visitors have to be segmented and properly targeted... if you are getting shit traffic unrelated to your niche, it won't matter how fucking awesome your site is :)

You earn by sending them as much traffic as you possibly can... you'd be amazed at some of the crap I earn commissions on - totally and utterly unrelated to my review sites.

Therefore, I actually don't really care what the value is of the item I'm building a review site around - I just care about how many clicks I can get and send to amazon...

The single largest stream of traffic I send to amazon comes from a review site I have for products that sell between 50 cents and $4. Nobody else bothers to build a review site because 'it's too cheap the commissions are low'... well, when I send 10k clicks from that site each month, let me assure you, the earnings overall are not low :)

I know what you're talking about, a lot of my sales have been through a variety of items unrelated to my niche. I'm also planning to start a new Amazon site focusing on low priced items hoping to achieve what you have. I'm glad to hear it works and you're successful with it. :)

recently is it ..due to cold weather ??back at states and some countries?
I didn't get any sales for days close to one week man....don't know what went wrong..
I done the same ...last month...
during holiday period....

never change any thing....just do as per normal..during those days I got sales..
but overall didn't earn much...

now even worst...few bucks also hardly got...
 
My strategy is - good responsive design and Xenia Amazon plugin that can generate huge amount of products fast and update them on regular baisis. As a result I always get traffic with the help of long tail keywords.

I do not have any amazon releated website but still earn some bucks with amazon with threads at answer sites and forums. Works good for me. If you really want to build your own website i would do some review site. Look for good keywords with some good SEO-Tool.

all i can find is Xenia sites but i can't find the plugin in any where!

What about people from other countries who won't be shopping from Amazon.com? Won't they be much less likely to click it, if they buy from Amazon.es, Amazon.de etc.

Once you reach amazon.com, it automatically offers to redirect you to the respective international site based on your IP. I am assuming, Since your affiliate cookie will already be there in the user's cache, you'll make the commissions on that sale.
