There are a lot of possibilities available, therefore I'm trying to choose hosting for a new project. VPS offers greater control, shared is less expensive, and dedicated seems unnecessary. How can seasoned professionals choose which kind of hosting is best for a project?

I’d say most pros match hosting to project needs: shared works for small/simple sites, VPS is the sweet spot for control + scalability, and dedicated is only worth it for very heavy traffic. These days, many start with a managed VPS or cloud since it balances cost, flexibility, and growth.

It really depends on the project’s needs. Shared is fine for small, low-traffic sites on a budget. VPS gives you more flexibility, resources, and control without the cost of a dedicated server is good for growing projects. Dedicated is usually only worth it if you need maximum performance, security, or have very high traffic. Most people start with VPS and scale up as demand increases.

It depends mainly on the traffic your website is getting . If you are just starting, basic shared hosting is fine.

Most people don't need a VPS or a dedicated server for their website. They may feel the need for it because it's an upgrade for a simple shared hosting service, and it's always cool to upgrade stuff.

VPS should only be considered when you outgrow your shared hosting service or when you need a custom configuration. Same with a dedicated server.

If you have any technical knowledge, then a VPS can be a good start, but you need to manage everything (if you don't use managed hosting). A dedicated server is a significant computing resource and should be considered when you need fully dedicated resources. It will not make sense to host a 100 visitors a day site on a dedicated server. For most people who only host their websites, a dedicated server is almost always overkill, as a VPS is cheaper and can be upgraded.

For most use cases, shared hosting will work just fine. Just don't go with the cheapest provider because in the hosting world, you get what you pay for.

Choose shared for low-traffic/simple sites, VPS for growing sites needing control, and dedicated only for high-traffic or resource-heavy projects.

Shared feels cheap until you’re throttled during peak traffic, then you regret it fast

pls stay away from cheap shared hosting services otherwise you could wake up morning to find out that the hosting company has disappeared.
You choose affordable/dedicated hosting services
