I occasionally run out of things to write about, especially when it comes to specialized areas. How do seasoned authors often come up with fresh, interesting article ideas? Do you base your decisions on your own experience, trends, or research?

It depends on your niche.

I usually check trending topics on Pinterest, Google search suggestions, Reddit, and using tools like AnswerThePublic, BuzzSumo, etc. Of course, you check what's related to your niche.

Seasoned authors rarely rely on inspiration alonethey build systems to keep the flow alive. The best ideas usually come from a mix of three sources: personal experience, which adds authenticity and perspective; trend-spotting, where you watch what’s buzzing in your niche and expand on it with depth others miss; and research-driven insights, pulling from forums, case studies, or even keyword tools to see what questions people are actively asking but not finding good answers to.
If you combine those three your lived experience, current trends, and unmet search intent you’ll never really run out of fresh, engaging topics.

I always use Chatgpt.

I ask it to write broad title ideas where my niche can be mentioned.

Try the opposite day method. Take a popular piece of advice in your niche and argue against it with solid reasoning. It creates instant engagement and debate, which drives traffic

The decisions are never based on one thing. It is a mixture of trends, latest stories, essentials, and a lot of experience too. From idea generation to conceptualizing, i is a completed process that requires keen oversight.

it depend on what type of article you want to write or what type story are in trending

Yeah trending stuff works but burns out quick. Evergreen content takes longer to rank but keeps bringing traffic for years.

Competitor analysis. I constantly look for weak sites to steal their keywords.
If a weak site can rank for those keywords, I surely can... easy and efficient.
