How Do You Choose Domains That Actually Sell?

While some short, snappy names sit for months, others sell quickly. When determining if a domain is worth registering or flipping, what standards do you apply?

I look for domains that are short, easy to spell, and use popular extensions like .com. Strong keywords with clear commercial intent. Think finance, health, and tech. They tend to move faster.

Check search volume and existing demand with tools like Google Trends or keyword planners. Avoid odd spellings or hyphens, and see if similar names have sold recently on marketplaces like NameBio. A domain that’s memorable, brandable, and tied to an active niche is far more likely to sell quickly.

Check NameBio and DNJournal: if similar names have already been taken, then the chances are higher. Also I think the domain should sound like it could easily be incorporated into a logo.

But in general, take anything related to AI. Even ai-toiletpaper.com will be worth more in a few years.

For a while, it was just beating people out on rising trends and shite. One word sites are also generally high value, as far as I'm aware. Flavour of the moment is still AI but meme related things that get turned into memecoins also might see some value as a domain. Considering I used to flip sites, I probably have better advise somewhere in me, just that I haven't done that in actual decades.
