How do you change the location shown on your X (Twitter) account?

I create content aimed at an audience interested in Japanese culture, so I want to change my account location to Japan because I believe it would be better for my brand credibility. I tried using a VPN, but it didn't work.

Has anyone successfully spoofed/changed their account location? If so, how did you do it?

From what I've seen, the location shown on an account isnt something you can flip overnight. Instagram seems to update it based on longer term account signals not just your current IP.

Changing the visible location is less important than building signals around that audience

Content language engagement and who interacts with the account usually matter more over time
