For example, political discussions on social media. The algorithm itself knows that you hate something and show it to you, so, you will engage discuting with some random guy that lives 1000km from you (a total waste of time).

How to deal with that and stop wasting time?

You stop engagin into the discussions with random guys that lives 1000km away from you since it's a total waste of time and instead don't even open a twitter, just go and hustle, don't be your desires slave.

Its kind of hard and tempting to avoid. Avoid social media as much as you can. I do that as I cannot stop giving my opinion a lot of times. The only thing I do is avoid social media. Mostly ignore comments section of any political podcast on YouTube. I do that. I don't use Twitter, Instagram or Facebook as it makes no sense to me.

Same here. Getting rid of Twitter (or whatever it is now), Facebook, and Instagram was my best decision this year. I still use YouTube mainly due to the many excellent channels there.

Just focus on your goals.

Time spent on social media is time and energy that could be used elsewhere.

It is ok to waste some time on internet but you have to do the important things first.

Wasting time on the internet? Is that even possible?

Listen mate, everything depends on fact how you brain is wired. Mine, for example, is wired to learn, to notice what others don't, to look for patterns, methods, ways to make something good out of it. To deduce to be exact! It is up to the individual and what they ultimately will do with their time.

If you think that's waste of time do not participate in it but don't let it go, watch, deduce and make clever decision. Who in their right mind would predict that shipping from Asia to Europe and USA's East Coast will be problematic and that fees will skyrocket because of one drunkard skipper in Suez Canal? Not to mention Commodity exchange clusterfuck around the world during which some individuals became millionaires overnight just because they've seen what's coming. You all remember that :D

For this reason I left twitter.
