Just curious if anyone has a piece of software or what not to help them avoid honeypots, or do most people just not care?
Honeypots are 'traps' usually set up by the authorities to locate (and usualy put in jail ) hackers.@PinkyX I'd like to know what it is! First time I've ever heard it.
sorry to break it for you , but its not just done for hackers. Its also being done as we speak for facebook spammers, bot herders, and those indulging in kiddie porn. There is a thinner line between what used to be hackers and people using their hacking skills combined with blackhat IM to make money , look up the latest botnets and you will see these people were monetizing their bots just like many people would but instead of using proxies they used their own bots to spamm all the social networks including facebook and twitter. So no your wrong its actually being used for whole other things than just hackers.do you even know the definition of a honeypot? this question is kinda retarded.

If you're just spamming FB or youtube you have got nothing to worry about. And if you're involved in some illegal activities they probably already have got your personal data if you're asking such a stupid question.

Use ProxyFire to filter bad and dangerous proxies in 1 sec.

Honeypots are used by everyone. it doesn't even necessarily refer to computer security, though that is a popular area the term has been used in. A honeypot can take any number of different forsm too. I put 20 domains with blogs and forums filled with auto generated keyword content last year, all left wide open, just for the purpose of gathering up spam. Whenever I get bored I can go poke around the databases and reverse engineer other people's projects to see what people are doing and who appears to be having success. I intend on automating the process of crawling and analyzing those databases for spammed links and generating nice little dossiers I can study up on at some point, and probably adding in more honeypots to gather more data. This is just as much of a "honeypot" as any other. he sole purpose is attracting whatever bees you're baiting.
Anyone can go out and setup a "honeypot" and there's not much you're going to do to avoid hitting them when you're automatically scraping hundreds of thousands of pages, and blindly blasting them all with spam. It's not hard to make a site, page, video, or profile, look just like every other page out there, and just pull the data off the server afterwards.
Spamhaus is using the honeypots to catch the post spammers. It means you need to have the clean url lists (from reputable scrapebox list sellers), or from harvested urls, then verify the lists to make sure that they are clean before commenting on their sites.
I know this...because I provide proxies.![]()

Wow, there is so many kinds of stupid in that post I don't know where to begin. Honeypots have been used for years by anti-blackhatters to acquire information about those who use proxies. They not only collect the information, they relay to ISPs, hosts, legalities, etc ... Honeypot data has been used in courts to help convict several prolific spammers--not just email spammers, myspace spammers were hit hard a few years ago as well, and I'm sure there's several I don't know of.
I wished I lived in your world ...
1.Learn some respect and don't call people stupid if you know nothing about them. This forum is not a place for a-holes.
2.The last sentence (sarcasm) wasn't necessary, no one's trying to be rude here, we all are just trying to answer the question that you've asked. And I know what I'm talking about.
3.Honeypots are used to track cybercriminals (99% of the time) which I mentioned in a post somewhere above. Don't ask my howcome I know, I just know.
PS: I bet you'd wish if you knew my world : )
