I’ve been thinking about how different people balance contributing useful ideas in subreddits with using Reddit Ads to reach the right audience, and I’m curious how others find the right mix between genuine participation and smart promotion

I try to build karma in non-promo subs first so I’m not just “that guy.”

Genuine participation is usually diversity. If you have one master account, use it to stay active in multiple niches instead of strictly for promotion. If you used a product and lost weight, then weight loss is not all about your life. You'll have other interests like lifestyle, entertainment, sports, etc. I have seen in reddit that whenever users find someone suspicious, they check the profile and see other posts. If you only post about weight loss, then it clearly looks like a marketing account. If you only discuss about a single product or service, then it clearly reveals your strategy.

Give good, helpful answers in subs, and keep any promotion separate through Reddit Ads. Stay valuable first, then you should promotional second.

Try to engage more in the comments, so people in the sub start noticing you, then you can make posts, and they'll engage with you too!
