How do you acquire clients?

For anyone following, I've gotten 3 new clients since writing this & about 4 hot leads in the pipeline.

Going to take sometime and write up everything I've tried and am about to try tomorrow :)

I've seen that doing free SEO audits and then publishing testimonials on social media is a good way to acquire clients. It has a snowballing effect where prospective clients will see the testimonials and contact you.

congrats! how did you find them?

UPDATE:

Ok so since posting this we've secured 3 more paid clients and have 4 in the pipeline, I imagine 2-3 will be clients within a week or 2.

So we've got the first 3 from word of mouth, I started talking to anyone who would listen to me about SEO and how we bring more customers to people. This got around and had some friends of friends contact me and start using our service. From that they referred us more people as we got fast results for them (Honestly surprised me how fast they were lol).

I've been hitting cold email hard and have some interest but nothing too solid at this moment. I've been sending 30 a day or so, I've learned A LOT in terms of what to say to get them to open it and reply. If anyone is interested I can send my template. I am going to purchase the cold email mastery PDF soon, want to secure a client from cold email to pay for it.

I've read all the replies to this thread and have made a list of what I'm going to try/have tried:

Personalized Email - a grind for sure but definitely a cheap and effective way to start out.

Google targeting local keywords - did this a little bit, I think it's great as the people are already "trying" to get more leads in by paying. Going to try it more, will give an update soon.

PPC Campaigns - honestly haven't put aside $ for paid ads yet and not too sure if I'd start with PPC. Definitely going to do in the future though.

Ranking your site locally for SEO - I am in a fairly small town and there are couple hundred searches a month for "TOWN NAME" SEO Services so I am going to dedicate sometime every week to getting that started.

Building a creditable source (YouTube, Blogs, etc) - I am going to dedicate A LOT of time to this as I think it's where I'll do the best. I've been making YT videos on sneaker reselling for years so I think am going to launch my local marketing/seo channel and see how it goes.

Fiverr, Upwork, etc - In my experience these sites are pretty good. I've gotten a couple web design clients from them but nothing recurring, I am going to put some work into my gigs and see how it goes.

White labeling for other agencies - I am open to this, if anyone needs it lmk. Currently want to focus on growing our agency as I think that's more long term.

That's where I am putting most of my time currently. I think prioritizing cold email, referrals bonuses for current clients, YouTube, & ranking locally are going to be the best for me.

PS.

Just a little extra tip if you're looking to get your first client, I would find a family friend or someone with a business you have a previous relationship with and "partner" with them in exchange they'll be your case study and reference. This is what we did and it really helped give us some credibility so now we have a handful of clients to show people who are interested. If you don't know anyone I would start with cold email personally, but know everyone will have their own way of doing things so see what works best for you.

Sounds great, good job! Send me the template, mate. Will look into :) Thx!

Congratulations now you can scale it :)

I'm interested in the template thanks

I've been doing local SEO for a couple clients now on a monthly retainer. I've had good success and know I can get results for clients, just stuck on where to get more clients in. So far I've been getting clients off referrals but want to expand my reach.

What's your favorite/best way to get more clients?

Thanks in advance :)
What is your monthly charge?

What is your monthly charge?
We are charging $300/mo for the 2 family friends and everyone else $400/mo. I plan on having 3 plans ($499, $799, $1199) in the future but I want to provide a lot of value up front so we can scale then bring in the $$ later.

So from my experience this is what's gotten the best open rate and responses for me. Definitely open to criticism/changes :)

“Is there anything I can help with?” Usually use this if they're a somewhat warm lead, also depends on the niche.

Hey! My name is FIRST LAST NAME, I own a digital media agency here in CITY NAME.

I noticed you guys do not currently have a website on Google. Are you interested in building a website to bring in customers online?

If so give me a call at PHONE NUMBER

Hey! My name is FIRST LAST NAME, I own a digital media agency here in CITY NAME.

I noticed you guys had a pretty good looking website. I also noticed a couple things that could be improved to help you rank better on Google to bring in more customers.

If you’re interested in hearing about them, give me a call at PHONE NUMBER. Would love to chat with you.

Depending on the website / if they even have one depends on what I usually send. I also edit it a bit depending on the business or what not.

After I send the first email I wait 2 days and send a follow up email:

Hey! Just following up, let me know if you're interested. If not, no worries :)

OR

Hey! Just following up, if you have any questions we can hop on a call.

From here we'll get them on a phone call and describe what we do and what they're wanting to get from us. I hate saying "hey here is what we can do FOR YOU" so I'll usually give a little intro about it and then let them do most of the talking and make sure we're a good fit.

Then we'll setup a zoom and go over their current site (If they have one) and show them past clients we've done and how they've been successful.

I'm currently testing the waters with sending them a website audit, but I feel like the short and sweet emails work the best as they don't seem "spammy" or "scammy".

Once again if you have any input would love to hear it!

Hey love the thread you've got going on. I've recently started cold email outreach and one of the things I like to do is create some heat by mentioning their competitors.

Things like
* "Competitor xyz is ranking number 1 and taking most of your customers"
* This keyword brings in xyz traffic and is worth xyz in clicks every month
* and then I close by saying "I've made a video going over how you can beat them, are you the right person to send it to?"

This way they qualify themselves by literally raising their hand for a video audit. I make the video afterwards so I'm not wasting time making audits that don't get seen. Right now I have 3 roofers in the pipeline and I'm going to be messaging them tomorrow.

For anyone with experience in cold email, what is a good amount to send per day? I'm using a mail warming service and right now it's sending like 40 per day, does that mean I can do 30 per day as well? I'm trying to rapidly scale this to get a bursting pipeline set up

There are a number of ways to acquire new clients, advertising using paid Ads, networking, cold emails and referrals. You can also use social media, PR and content marketing to attract new leads and convert them into clients.

Love this! Going to use it :)

I’ll let you know how it goes!

Create a knowledge-sharing thread closely related to your skills and expertise. Help and educate people with basic to intermediated stuff. Once people aware about your real expertise they will offer you projects for sure.
totally agree. you don't need to look for clients, just provide value to your community. how? create videos and share them everywhere.

Been a minute so I figured I’d update this post for anyone following.

Things are going well now we have a nice pool of recurring clients and keep getting referrals left and right.

I’ve started created some content & am going to really invest in that here pretty soon.

The biggest help for me has been networking, meeting people with businesses and explaining what we do rather than trying to sell them.

I think the biggest thing was just keep things going, even when I thought things weren’t going to work, it eventually did. If you’re struggling to find clients, just keep going :)

Good luck! I strongly recommend you to buy 'Cold Email Mastery' from cold email wizard. Not my product and not an affiliate but that course is really really good.

Everyone I know doing cold outreach has bought the course and their results skyrocketed (including me)
How can i find this?

Word of mouth is my favorite.

Also, you can pay x% of your earnings on a new client to the guy who refered you as a professional. I have some friends of mine selling some of my services to almost anyone they stumble upon with haha.

May I ask how you can scale cold emails about personalizition? I understand the importance of it, but if I am writing the personal opening myself, I will burn out fast and be unable to do as many as effective.

Thanks in advance :)

I've joined this BHW forum to help people grow their businesses. I was able to grow my company from roughly $8,000/month up to $36,000/month within a 6 month timeframe using cold email.

I've used cold email marketing for years and I have the entire process incredibly refined and it's a well oiled machine now.

As an example, I received 10 interested leads yesterday, December 19th. I'll upload screenshots if anyone needs proof :)

You have to make sure you're using the correct cold email sending tools though, there are a lot on the market that don't work properly.
