Per the title
Healthline.com is a great example because it ranks so well on so many keywords but yet I don't see any affiliate links, no ads on the websites, nothing
How do websites like that monetize themselves?

+ They are asking for an email
And I can open Plan>Find Care menu, because of my location, but I sense there could be something there.

Ads baby, fffin ads. They also make money (affiliate commisons) from products they recommend.

Ah, yes, d'oh ads all over if I disable adblock
How much revenue could a website like that generate from just ads? I thought ads weren't that profitable?

They have display ads and occasionally write articles in which they promote health products.

I like their approach.

They speak in plain English so anyone can do something like that if you can interpret data.

I only checked a couple of pages but the do follow every link in their articles (that i've seen) but they only link out to studies as far as I know.

And then they interlink the hell out of the internal keywords. and they also seem to have that infinite scroll thing going for topics. So when I look up something like "Fructose" I get one article and as I scroll another article shows up beneath it.

Millions of visitors, a trusted authoritative brand, it has to be bringing in serious dough.

BRO?! Don't you know big websites sell your data! Ask google.. This is common knowledge even you should know by now.. Are you in the IM world or what?!

Yeah I like it a lot too. They work in a really straight-forward way. They deserve every success they get and their SERPs are deserved, well-earned. I click on their result specifically because it's their brand. They produce good content. My appreciation of their website is why I was wondering how they're monetizing it because they're obviously putting in a lot of effort into their content, paying professionals to write articles. It must cost serious money to produce this much, well-researched, well-documented content. Thus my question.

I had read that WebMD "only" brings in about $10M in ad-revenue. Given how dominant these websites are and how many people, all around the world, land on them you'd feel like they'd be making a whole lot more money. (Source: https://blog.adbeat.com/medical-publishers-monetization/)
But maybe that's just what it is
Maybe the article is off

Funny story, my girlfriend used to write for WebMD, too bad I met her after she already stopped. I would have loved a link from that website! :)
