The notion never really crossed my mind until I was bitch slapped by their automated system for not complying to one of their vague TOS, and I now realized I'm permanently on their shitlist for something that's akin to a teenager staying out an hour past curfew on the night we turn back the clocks.

Obviously, it's not going to happen overnight but this behemoth has morphed into a control-hungry monopoly that must be stopped. Don't get me wrong, I agree with their idea to populate the web with relevant and real content, but the ends don't justify the means.

There's no way one company should dominate the majority of all searches in the world.

Maybe we should have a blackhat parade and march on the streets in front of their headquarters?

There is a thread about avoiding Google, you want to declare war.
I have been asked not to talk about that and after thinking about it for a bit concluded he was right.

There are ways to attack them, but in the end you will loose.
Simple fact is that they provide a service that is unbeatable till now. But, just like Netscape went, so can G.

Try and find a way to make an alternative to them. You won't make it on your own but perhaps you could support duckduckgo or something.

When it comes to control hungry, G is the least of my problems.

I don't think Google should be eliminated--even if it were possible. They offer a plethora of great services to the public and webmasters that, currently, no one can really beat. But that doesn't mean they are above reproach, as they seem to think they are.

Also, you're taking this thread a little too seriously. While they need to be put in their place, it's not going to happen overnight.

Well said. The big G is not really a monopoly and can crumble. Just give it time. How ever high something goes is how low it can
go to! I do not like Google but at the same time from a consumer standpoint they are unbeatable.

Trying to fight "The Big G", is like trying to
stop an Army tank with a slingshot. :)

That was a line in my original post, so don't take this too seriously. I still think the fuckers need to be slapped down a few notches, though. :) They should get 50% of the searches and the rest split among competitors. lol

Their slogan "Do no Evil" reminds me a lot about forcing yourself not to think of a white bear. :P

But, if you want to fight, begin at the base: The visitors. They come for a service.
Using flags and shout a bit outside some building makes me think me of the Thieves Guild having a strike to get better benefits. :P

And I did not take your thread too seriously, no worries.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. I am just trying to be realistic about solving it. :)

This guy did it without one ....Tank guy.jpg . Don't :ban:

They are a private company and they can do whatever they can and we break TOS of Google and then bitch about them. The only way you can boycott google is to get traffic from other methods and you will never have to kiss googles ass. Simple as it sounds.

Their a control hungry monopoly because of two things....

1. They employ some of the smartest people in the world.
2. People like.... um.... us... make it hard for them to run a business.

I agree that they should be more considerate with things like bans, give people second chances.... but at the same time, they're a business. Their goal is profit. It would cost too much money to appeal decisions like bans, for example.

But that's the problem. When they control the majority of traffic for long tail keywords that people will never search for elsewhere, you no longer have any other real options. I can get a nice amount of ppc or search traffic a day for a 7-word longtail from google but there's nowhere else that people are searching for that specific niche enough for it to be profitable. Or if they are, it requires a lot more work and investment to reach them.

Would it really be the worst thing? lol

begin hoping that they forget to renew the domain

Want to stop new google updates from launching ever 3 months? then Stop sharing methods(which helps you rank websites in a black hat way) on black hat forums, i know this may sound bit harsh to some people but its true that google staff reads this forum and they make their algorithm better by decoding the methods which are currently working for you.

Seems like G has shot itself dead after reading this thread. It's not responding not loading since last few minutes! Enjoy! :)

lol srb

It's loading here :P

maybe something is wrong with your connection ;)

The theory is easy. Create hundreds of thousands of bots that manipulate the serp results arbitrarily and click randomly on adsense: it's by far the very reason they're alive and well. It's like what's happening in the rest of the world (if you're not asleep watching the latest yt bs trend): most wars are not fought with conventional weapons among entities of similar size, they are carried with unconventional financial warfare. An interesting articles on Forbes I seem to recall talked about it. Wanna boycott the G? Do that, make the advertisers unhappy and you'll see the castle crumble. The real question is: would it be feasible? Yes, with the right motivation it sure is.

Wiz has it right as always. You can't possibly fight directly...

But you can either adjust your strategy so that the powers that be favor you or you can seek other alternatives.

Stop fighting against the tide and stand for something that puts the wind at your back.

Life is just so much more rewarding when you stand for something real instead of trying to boycott changes that have already happened.

As that idea applies to IM, try out social media marketing, media buys, app development or any of the other big traffic strategies.

You will never build a real business relying on Google alone. They don't care about you or your traffic. Deal with it and move on.
