How Do They Get Away With It?

I have a quick question. I saw someone not affiliated with this band uploaded their entire album and has adsense ads showing on it. Each video has over 30,000 views and I know that this guy is not in the band, so how does get away with showing ads on the videos? They have been up for over 6 months. Is it just that the record label/band hasn't noticed or doesn't care to do anything about it?

The secret is that youtube lets the content owners decide what they want to do with the content that is stolen from them on youtube.
One option is that the content owner does not request the takedown of the video but actually monetize it. What this means is that the uploader does not get any $ from the views and clicks but the content owner does.
