    Hi folks;

    I want to know, Is it possible to do SEO of a multi domain website? When all of these domains are only different from design point of view but have same products, price and content. Same sale or special offer used across all domains. Moreover these domain also interlink to share link juice. How Google and other search engines will rank these domains? Is it possible generate better ranking? What steps one should keep it mind to handle SEO and SEM of this multi domain website? Does anyone have such experience?

    Google considers each subdomain as a separate entity. Hence the domain authority of the root domain does not pass onto the sub domains and ranking them is like ranking different websites. In fact since all sub domains will most likely be on the same IP, equity link flowing between them would be much poorer than if they were different websites host on different IPs.

    If you have the option, I would suggest you move the sub domains to folders. e.g change site1.mydomain.com to mydomain.com/site1. Each of the mini sites will then benefit from the domain authority and all sites will benefit from your concentrated link building efforts.

    In this case the separate sub-domains being on different IPs does not matter, since the search engines know that all the subdomain belong to a single entity who owns the root domain. Hence any link equity will be significantly reduced.

    Having said that, when we set up Web 2.0s, we set them up on a subdomain of the site. SEOsite.wordpress.com for example... And these properties seem to get a small amount of authority from the root, and also seem to be able to take more dodgy links before crashing and burning.
