How do referrers work?

I am wondering.

Adwords ---> My website ---> Auto redirect script to 3rd party website


Will they see the referrer as my website, or will they see the referrer as adwords?

You can spoof referrer, so it can be whatever you want. But, the browser sends the referer, so you don't know what will happen. There is no specification in the RFC for redirects for referer, so the browser can do whatever.

I have done similar in the past and used html redirect, can't remember what it's called but it loads a page on your site briefly and then redirects header. I'm guessing that way would definitely show site as referer?
