Actually you can
You can do like other people do and change the pitch or slow it down, But to be honest, It's annoying as hell.
Look at how many views this video got and it's a slowed down version.
Oh and look at the uploader's name.. FastMusicHQ xD

The degree of annoyance vastly depends on which tools you use.
All of this stuff can be automated fairly easily if you learn how to manipulate videos in batch with command-line tools. I won't spoon-feed anybody here b/c someone will likely neg-rep me for that (yes, it happened already lol), but definitely easy to gain knowledge on this topic with a simple query on big G. HTH.

As a dj/mashup artist on YT, I can confidently say, pitch bending and all that type of shit will NOT work to hide a song from detection.
99% of FULL songs owned by UMG or WMG will be blocked, and 99% of most other major labels will be monetized. A lot of independent labels, e.g. Stones Throw & Delicious Vinyl, will also block/make a claim on you!
As I never play full songs I can always claim "fair use" so labels have no choice but to throw an ad on there.
I've sampled seconds, speed way up or down, layers deep, and YT detection finds it all the time.

As WarGamesDavid said, YouTube will find out easily. They compare the bitrate and stuff, and it is close to impossible to get a different graph than the original without messing the song totally up - which then is useless.

This is a year and half old, and notice his account is closed.
Maybe they just watch me closer because I always dispute "fair use" if blocked, but the system never ceases to amaze me with what it catches!
I assure you, lowering the pitch 10% will NEVER hide it from detection on my channel.

I have 10 copyrighted songs on youtube on the same account, no pitch edits, cuts, etc.
Personally i think it's random, There's thousands of copyrighted songs on youtube.

You sure it's detecting the sound and not the visuals?
Have you tried uploading it with different visuals?

Not all copyrighted songs are blocked, it is not random, UMG and WMG and others will claim and block uploads that infringe on what they own, other companys will not.
As a mashup dj 99% of my channel is 3rd party claimed copyright, my point was that trying to hide the songs does not work, YT always detects them.
