How Do People React When They Find Out You Work Online?

I explain them SEO as let them know my referral program..lmao

when they know ..

first they dont believe that someone can make easy money by computer..

when i explain it to them..they just want to learn all in just 2 minutes..

I just say I run a small advertising company, I advertise companies in Australia on Google mostly. At first everyone thought I was insane when I said this, some of the looks I would get were funny. But I guess when they seen the car I drove & the hours I worked, they soon shut up.

the hardest part will be when you need to fill some documentt, or opening bank account. in my country people should declare clearly wht your occupation when filling document or enroling something.

Most, if older, just look at me like I'm stupid. Usually followed with "Why don't you get a real job?". Most friends thought it was stupid until they seen how I live. Now they want to get into it.

My favorite is when somebody tells me "Yeah i think i might as well just get into working online myself".

Sure thing Buddy, just go down to the bureau of internet marketing jobs, right next to the pie in the sky office you asshole

Young people are either intrigued or skeptical until you tell them how much you're making. Then they want in it.

Older people are always skeptical and ask a million questions.

Usually I just give a fake, short explanation to avoid a million questions. "I sell shit on eBay". (Not true anymore.) LOL

totally agree with you =)

There's usually two reactions for me:

Half of them think that I am just screwing around not making anything

and

The other half things I am doing some sort of illegal shit. Sadly my parents belong to this group lol. I tell my dad how much I made in the last 6 months and he just says "well let's hope the cops don't turn up at your door some day"

I always get the same questions after telling them what I do.

At the same time I am also laughing with them and told them yeah I am joking with you

Lol people are so closed-minded and think that if your work-to-income ratio is low, it must be illegal. (Though as a disclaimer, people just assume online = no work; a lot of us work our asses off.)

There's this older guy at my retail job who knows I make most of my money online, so he's always like, "So how much money did you make yesterday?" and if it was a good day, I'll tell him ($150-200) and he just asks if I'm selling drugs online or something lmao.

The thing is, even if I was making $150-200 every day, it's not like it equates to a super luxurious lifestyle or anything. It's basically $50k per year, which a LOT of people make, but no one ever breaks it down into $/day or they'd see that tons of people make $150 every day.

But, especially if you're young, the fact that you're making a triple-digit number (or even high double-digit) daily, work online, and are perhaps younger than whoever you're talking to, in people's mind's means you're making a fuckton of money every day for no work whatsoever. Since most people can't achieve this feat, they assume that anyone doing this (especially people younger than them) must be doing something illegal, or they're just full of shit.

That's my theory at least.

Most of the folks wonder where i get my income and how i can afford to stay home all day and get toys and gifts for my kids all the time and go on holiday 3-4 times a year.
When i say i work online and earn a decent living.
They laugh and say "na you must be a drug dealer or or something"
My reply : Dream what you want about me, i don't have the time. Whilst your dreaming, i'm counting my bank roll.
$$$
:D

I have had all kinds of reactions. From interested to I am a moron for falling for these work at home business scams while snickering. However, I have had the opportunity a couple of times (at their home or have my laptop and can get wifi) to log on to my boa business account and watch their eyes glaze over as I tell them I work less than 20 - 25 hours per week.

This thread made me laugh so much because of the truth I've read in here and the similarities I found between these stories and mine.

You can explain people without much trying, tell them it's complicated and that you don't do only one thing that it would be some sort of secret. Use some professional words about this and voila. Stay chill, when they'll ask you how much you make, simply tell them the truth.

But it depends, friends might be retarded or clever, parents might be close minded or just worried, who knows? :) Just do it and don't follow the rest of the sheeps!
