Let's say competitors are ranking number on and two for a high competition high volume kw. You check their BL profiles using ahrefs or some other prefered tools, one of them show zero backlinks, the other has like five, which is clearly a very misleading result. In the latter case, how have they managed to only partially block their results?

Edit: oops, this was supposed to go on the main blackhat seo board. Please can it be moved as appropriate, thanks.

You should check their backlink profile with other less known tools 'cause these "big" trackers usually honor site's noindex/nofollow links. So most of PBN just block big backlink tracker crawlers.

They block the crawlers using .htaccess or Wordpress plugin

I was wondering though how they manage to retain like five of the backlinks to show via any given result but hide the rest? The way I saw it, blocking via .htaccess should block the results completely right?

Most organic backlinks you pick up do not block crawlers, usually only people trying to hide their PBNs will block the crawlers from finding their PBN

Also lots of cloaking going on, deceiving the backlink tool crawlers. Ultra elite method, showing a fake link profile to BL tools.
