I'm not sure yet how people offer writing services for such a low price, I mean it doesn't seem worth it all.
How do you write 500 words for a single dollar, it takes time and you just charge $1 for it?

Never seen someone offering that cheap.
The cheapest I have bought so far has been 2.5 and it was worth every penny, Of course the guy is an Indian and is a BHW member.

Pakistani people do this on freelancercom, they spam me with a load of this offers.

1 dollar articles are most likely expired or spun content.

It cost more. Here's how it works. As a native speaker, it takes 20 min for me to write 500 word articles the way 90% of the writers write (in terms of research and I dont write that often). For a dude from developing country it takes perhaps 1 hour. The lowest is around $3.5. He can work 8 hours a day and make at least 30 dollars. He can work 5 times a week and make around 600 dollars, which is a descent salary for them in India/Philippines and other places.

That's why it is hard to get native writer for cheap. Most of them are in developed countries and they can't and won't work for 600-1000 dollars.

All online writing markets have been trashed by low-ball writers from various third-world counties. For some $1 US can feed them for a few days or even longer. Even though the articles are usually pure shit, the overall effect is that it destroys the market. Same principle has happened with cheap Chinese products and knockoffs. They are so low, that anyone trying to sell an item for $10 finds he or she is high seller. That's my experience.

I tried some cheap rated writers their writing style and qualities are worst. You can't use those even in your web 2.0 properties.

Well, the cost of living is low in 3rd world countries. Makes sense now?

$1 in 3rd world countries is like $5 in developed nations. So someone writing 5 articles over there for $1 or $2 each is living a little bit better than the average person over there.... that's how they can offer the services so cheap. Did you know Nike pays $5 to make their shoes, but they sell them for like $150-250..... SAY WHHHHHAAAAAAT. :o

But in honesty, I've not come across anyone selling articles for just $1 a pop. You'll get sub-standard stuff for that price. Better to pay $5-10$ per article and get top quality stuff from there, or pay $30-50 and get decent content from 1st world nation.

Bad analogy about Nike and writing. Nike represent quality while articles usually equal bad

If you say so... the point is, your money goes longer in the developing nations or 3rd world as some like to call it.

The reason why Nike's shoes are of decent quality is because they've got millions of dollars to invest to train people, to create systems, to ensure quality control and other things that all add up.

You can hire well educated people from developing nations with a bachelor's degree or a master's degree that would be able to provide you with quality services and you'd still only be paying a fraction of what it would cost to hire someone like that in the US/UK/CA etc. If you want to ensure you get consistent high quality stuff, then you need to put up systems in place.

I know 1 person on here that is in a developing nation but he delivers better content to me than the content I would have gotten paying working with someone from the first world .... because he's got systems and great talent. The price is around $40 - I would have to fork over $100-200 per article for the same calibre content if I were to higher someone from the US.

Quick look on XE

$1 = 54.0599PHP
$1 = 73.5677INR

Just because people charge in $ (USD) doesn't mean they all live in the same country.

Also if your just starting off or launching a new business, freelancing or what ever it maybe at the start rather than worrying about how much money you should be making per day or how much your time is worth focus on other things.

If cost of living for the month is $500 then I need to make $500. Id rather work 10 x $50 jobs than struggle to find 1 x $500 job maintain my same standard of living and look to expand from there.

Everybody needs to start somewhere, right? :)

$1 for 500 words is dirt-cheap. Maybe, someone just starting off may charge such low rates. Of course, there are others who thrown in spun content at that price.

What does that means for the buyer?

Low-Quality Content from top to bottom.

Whose's at fault?

I would blame the buyer more than the seller. After all, what do you expect for $1? You lose all your cribbing rights the moment you hit the send button on PayPal for $1.

Indians and philippines

$1/article doesn't cut it, even for an Indian who can write readable articles.

If you're not good at English and write pure gibberish, sure $1/article might justify it.

But then, if am going to use shitty content I might just use a spinner and save myself 90 cents on the dollar.

In certain parts of India, $2 could be daily minimum wage for an unskilled labour (e.g. construction workers). By that standard these writters are rich even if they write 4 articles a day. This is not only true for India, but for any other developing countries too.
