I used to work at an Amazon marketing agency. The owner/my employer created a bunch of low content KDP books with AI - sudoku books, puzzle books, cookbooks, etc, but also some non fictional educational books on certain topics.
I listed them on Amazon for him, optimised the listing text and images, ranked them in relevant keywords, got 5* reviews for them , etc. It only made about £3-4k per month from 10-15 books, but I think that is decent given that almost zero effort when into making or maintaining them.
Given that I handled the Amazon side and making them sell, and that I now work for myself, I was thinking of doing similar for myself. Yes I know this is super saturated due to how popular AI content is now - but that is only a minor issue, if going after the right keywords. I have proved that once already and know I can do it again.
But I have zero experience of the side of things he was doing - actually creating the books.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a writer, and can create good quality books by writing them personally, but that is a long term thing and a different strategy entirely.
How would you go about making good quality books with AI?
I know he used Claude, and most people say Claude is the best AI for writing, so I tried messing around with that. Firstly, even the premium version can only write a certain amount of text, so you have to do each chapter separately, which is a massive ballache. But secondly, it was constantly making up things and adding stupid facts that would make it completely unsellable. To go through the whole thing and correct these issues wouldn't be much quicker than writing it myself.
