I've been going through goals in my head for 2016. Just casually rethinking priorities and looking how I spent my time in 2015. And I haven't looked at my webtimer in months. But today I did. And noticed I spent a disgusting amount of time on BHW this past year.
Too embarrassed to even say.
Then I realized there are people who probably spend 10, 50, 100xs more time on this forum.
Either for business reasons, social reasons... or a mixture of both. And it got me thinking about mods. At which point I had a weird thought which I hope doesn't sound offensive.
But if mods had webtimers, and I could see just 1 of their timers, I would probably throw up. I'm just that selfish & intolerant. If I had to do what they do for just a month I'd be cursing out people, shadowban'n members who ask what PBN means or how to do SEO. I'd intimidate, threaten their whoever. I'd be the worst moderator this forums ever seen.
On a forum like this... spending hour after hour doing what mods do... when 99% of members aren't even aware... very few thanking them... I imagine they have to deal with FAR MORE bullshit than positive. So really, where are the reinforcing elements that keep them sane?
What prevents them from just snapping and going apeshit on the whole forum? I realize temperament plays a big role. But day after day, all the negativity and bullshit... week after week month after month year after year... how does that not build up?
I see this rare "gene" in nonmods too. Like Zwelietch (sp?). It's easy to overlook him just cause he doesn't get involved in bs. He lays low. Yet when you look at his makeup, he's one of those people. Is it maturity? Emotional intelligence? These types of people are very rare and I'm just wondering what keeps them so "chill"?
