For example, let's say I sell toy robots how do I add a description that converts the most? I want to be able to add 250 to 300 words describing each item but I don't know the best structure to use. I've tried to search online but they only give broad details. Does anyone know an example/sample I can use to follow in a step by step manner? Like what each paragraph should talk about or where to add bullet points. Thanks for the help in advance.

Well, I would start with the basics. Talk about the features, the dimensions if they're relevant, etc. Then, maybe explain how someone will benefit from owning it (or what the purpose of it is). Use relevant keywords, but don't go overboard. So, nothing too complicated, and it should be well-structured. Bullet lists are great when it comes to product descriptions, for example. You should also divide the text into paragraphs, and then maybe bold a few lines of text - the ones you want the potential buyer to remember.

Taking your toy robots example. Go to amazon and search for toy robots, look at the top 10 results and the descriptions they use. Copy them down and blend them into your own.

Brief summary of what the product is.

Defining features and a bit of detail about each.

Other relevant info if any.

Detailed spec in tabular format - basically all the technical info a user might need - power type, size, weight, power rating etc.

Reviews.

I shared this last week, might help you;

Whether you write 200 or 2,000 words, it all boils down to what's in it for your target market. Think like a buyer and know what you want to see when buying.

Start with the key features and then the benefits. Be truthful, too. If there's a certain limit to that product, provide that information. Say the robot's life is for X hours only.

If you want to use superlatives, keep it to a minimum.

not sure if this is good advise but i have had some work done on fiver for this kind of stuff and it was good work believe it or not for $5

I find it best to see what other people are writing about their products that are similar to mine. This isn't easy for every niche, and some products just won't have as many things to talk about as others. You have more to say about a robot than I would about, say, a silver chain.

Don't worry about length as much as you worry about writing something good. Explain your product, see how other people explain theirs, and move on. You can always go back and make it better later.

Look at what others are writing and then base your work off of theirs. Do not copy, just borrow their template using your own words.

I try to write something controversial, headline catching, but most importantly, you should do a research on the keywords that you are targeting, and then target the keywords with the most organic traffic, and do a search one-by-one on the search engine for these keywords, and try to see what your competitors are saying concerning the product.
If your competitor is saying, get 30% discount, then you say get 80% discount instead.
If your competitor say 2018 latest toy model for XX brand, then you say, get the latest 2019 latest toy model for XX brand.
That's just upping the ante for the search listing.

Writing a product description is way too easy especially if it's about an e-commerce website. Product description refers to the format which contains all the valuable information about the product which buyer should know before buying it.

Product description indeed plays a vital role in breaking and making any product. Thus writing a product description becomes a mandate. And the secret of writing a good and quality product description lies in the following steps -

1) Clearly set buyer persona in your mind-
This is the first and basic step while writing the product description. You need to imagine what information buyer seeks while purchasing the product. Keep yourself in buyer's shoes and think. Knowing buyer persona is really important in order to make them satisfy because ultimately the success of the product is determined by the number of happy customers only.

2) Make a list of Features and Benefits -
In the second step you need to make a clear list of benefits and features. Because this is the first thing a buyer looks for while buying any product and even if not buying then reviewing it. Customers really dont care what your product is made up of. All they want to know is how your product can benefit them.

3) Define your voice -
Don't sound like a boring product old-fashioned product. Be clear what you want to convey to your buyers then use the appropriate and attractive language. Use the words by which buyer feels he is not reading the description but someone is telling him the description. Include emotions in your description and make it real.

Taking your toy robots example. Go to amazon and search for toy robots, look at the top 10 results and the descriptions they use. Copy them down and blend them into your own.

I think this is the best avenue for you. Also, I will try to do some kw research on the side and try to identify where these amazon descriptions use kws and how they used them.

Also,I would try to look in SERP for other toy websites and see how they described their products (the hypothesis here is that if they can rank with such a description, you can learn something).

Tl;DR Look for the winners and try to "steal" as much knowledge as you can
