How do I unfollow Private users?

So I am manually doing F/UF now and have been following a bunch of private accounts daily.

Where do I find those users to unfollow them later on? Tried looking over the Internet with no luck.

And is this is a good approach or you just do not follow those private accounts?

You can download your follow requests on Instagram. There will be a list of these people in the email you receive.
