How do I start my own article directory?

To be specific, I know how to register a domain name and create a website, but how do I get people to post their articles there? There's no point in having an article directory with no articles and I am too lazy to write content myself. I wouldn't mind people posting spinned articles, everyone does it, as long as they are at least semi-readable. I thought the simpliest way would be to somehow add it to UAW or MS or SeNuke or AMR, but how do I go about that? Any thoughts anyone?

Join in an article sharing service (like networked articles, article marketing automation, etc.) and feed some of your own articles into the services to promote your site. Those services will send you blogposts and articles into your site (usually via a plugin) and articles start showing up.

Along with promoting your site.

I have understood your problem. At first you choose a website where you buy your domain. Then create your website or you can also create a blog only where your own article is submitted. You can post your URL different blog with comments.

you may also install wordpress or joomla, visitors can then post articles when they are become a member, and you as admin may approve or disapprove articles that has been submitted.

You can get traffic for article submission through SEO. By this promotion people will learn about your directory and then they'll add articles in it.

In other words, once the website is ready, how do I submit it to UAW or MS or AMR or SeNuke (or other tools) to get people posting content on the website? I can guess that if I just leave it for people to find the website in Google and manually write the articles on my website I may as well give up, because no-one will do it. On the other hand, if the website was added to the automated tools many people use I would have hundred of pages of brand new content (albeit of dubious quality, but let's leave that issue aside for a moment) a day. So, that's the question - how do I do it? - sorry if I had not made it clear...

Join article distribution services, depending on your platform it usually involves installing plugins to be able to receive the articles. Once you set its automatic delivery.

After you make a name for your site people will start submitting manually.

ps. Its a good start to have a high pr site, as this is one of the time where pr do make a difference

You can also create a list of sites for articles (including your own of course) and give it away on BHW for SENuke users, etc.

Rinse and Repeate for AMSamurai, XR, and other tools that post articles too. It wouldn't take long for those lists to get shared out in alot of places. Viral Marketing, as it were.
