How do I spot involuntary peering in my task manager on Windows 8?

Im sitting here at work with sincerely huge bandwidth gaps on an Asus G750. My computer is lightning fast but I have a suspicion that the IT people or the owner is peering my computer via the network. Is there anyway to test that I am either not getting peered or my computer pings directly to the modem like it should. I have to have solid streams of internet or Il never get anything done.

Using wireshark on a work computer could get you fired. If they are monitoring your computer, it's within their right to do so. If something is slowing you down and effects your ability to work, ask your IT dept, not us.

The only way to tell this on a work computer is through closing all applications which use network/internet data and use task manager to monitor bandwidth. The upload throughput should be negligible if you are not being monitored.

Also, in Windows 8, in task manager you could sort the "Processes" by Network column to see which process is utilising bandwidth even when idle. Once you have seen the suspect process, you can right click and select "Go to File Location" to what program is it exactly.
