Well there are two ways to do it. The first one is the lazy bass approach of finding a domain with a strong like profile and 301ing it to your site. The second one is where you set up a small website/blog on each domain and link to your money site.
Just be careful and find quality domains. Make sure to check them properly to ensure they aren't spammed and when you host them try using a different host for each domain. add good unique articles and spend some time making them look legit.

There's no fixed numbers jelly. It depends on your keyword competition. You can get more domains with low authority as well as be able to rank with just a few of them with tons of authority. The trick is in finding the Golden Gems. I've just finished scraping some gems from Godaddy Auctions. If any of you guys want to save the hassle of digging with the domain metrics, PM Me. I can give out a couple of gems which you can buy from Godaddy.

Actually you would be surprised. I don't just accept anyone who has a couple of C-Notes
in their pocket for good reason. You could lay $1K in front of me and I would not accept

Personally I would avoid the 301 redirect from pbn to money site as its an obvious footprint to G... I would resurrect content, build the pbn site up and over time sneak in a link to my money site noting to add a few dud links so G algo doesn't detect an obvious attempt to game the serps...
