How do I make static pages in WP?

I have made my home page static but want to make several other pages static as well. I have been searching for the solution for hours but not found it.

I plan on having 6 static/brochure style pages and one page non static.

I know we got the experts here...please help

You just add more pages, not posts.. ?

I am a bit thick!

How do I remove the comments box from the bottom of the page so people won't comment?

When making a page untick "allow comments" under discussion

Log into the admin panel > Settings > Discussion

There is a checkbox there for "allow people to post comments on new articles"

you can also make one of your static pages the home page of your site
