how do i make an image link in emails for email marketing?

i want just an image which clicks through to my affiliate site.

i have een reading that making the image a html links auto triggers the email as spam so that would be no good.

i am reading that embedding it is what i want.

so how do i embed the image plus also have it as a link to my desired page?
