How do i keep twitter followers

Last night i got to 172,i had 72 before i use twiends,then this morning i had 148. I got to 220 a few minutes ago but now i dropped off to 215. I follow everyone that followers me,but i still get alot of drop offs. Ive only made like 7 tweets,could this be the problem?

What are your settings? I keep the majority of my followers. I use the strictest setting possible.

I had it set on the least strict settings,but changed it to only allow those with low drop off rates.
 
Keep it at strict settings.
The trick is to drive more followers then you lose. then you will wake up everyday with more followers then you had the day before!

When I get to 50,000+ will less % of people probably take me off,since I appear to be more popular?
 
I now have 652 followers,I want to get to at least 50,000 so i can get paid to tweet. My value on one website is only $1.01 right now :(

Send them "Tony Soprano " type tweet.
Nah but seriously, there will always be drop offs.
Make sure your tweets are not junk advertising but include every once a while some informative tweets and in all honesty if you wish to get paid for tweeting "your value" will depend on your followers quality, not just quantity.

IMO the answer is it depends. Like if you are tweeting 1x or 100x if it isn't interesting people will leave. Also, if you tweet spammy stuff right off of the bat they will leave. Give them something interesting to read, maybe something funny.
 
I've gotten to 1,015 followers and it dropped off by only 2 in the past few hours,which is alot better then I was doing,even with changing the settings. I'm going to post less links,and actually content in future tweets.

Update I got to 1032 after dropping down to 1011. And Im getting paid $.21 for every time someone clicks on a link i sent out for a company. I wont be doing another ad until I get to 10,000 followers though,and make alot more "real" tweets lol.

Post good content and don't spam your users. that will help you keep followers
 
When I have to post a link to my blog,its best to not use the ones with the ad,where I get paid for people clicking on it?
 
content content content - autoblog maybe - twitter feed maybe in small doses, interaction with people. you have to have a target market in mind, and know what they want. how they talk about it on twitter (lingo) very important. check out twitter fall. tweetbossman channel on youtube. but interaction & content are key period.
 
Some twitter users follows people who is active in tweets and is actually interacting with others. Plus Tweet at least twice a day anything out of the blue and include a tweet that interacts with other users. This prevents me from getting unfollows.
