How do I increase my bounce rate?

Hey guys, I logged into to analytics to check my stats and was shocked to see that my average time for the organic searches is 31 seconds. That is very close to bad. My content is pretty long and so how do I make my visitors stay longer? They are pretty relevant also. I don't want to put too many things and make my site slow.

I had the same problem until I found this post on BHW. Basically sometimes G's analytics does strange things and this code fix it!

You could try to add some videos or slideshows, make sure your content is high quality and easy to read.
Adding an exit-intent popup with some relevant articles or to give a free report/ebook (that will build your email list) should help a lot too.

if it's only displayed the wrong way do what people above said, it will help. If it's because of your site, you might change the looks and pick a theme that's easy on the eye and catchy

are you have company blog? keep posting and engage with audience? and then share to top bookmarking sites. Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, Delicious..

Within 7 days you bounce rate effect.. Then enjoy it..

The question you asked in the subject and then the time quoted are actully opposites. You need to decrease your bounce rate not increase it. The time spent on the website whilst that increases as does the numberr of pages visited will decrease the bouice rate. Also I'm not sure what your problem is with 31 seconds? This is acually a long time. Try reading you own home page and see how many seconds it takes. I bet its nowhere near 30 seconds

Sheesh people, if a video is a solution for everything. That's what you say - high bounce rate, add a video.... Come on, really? Add a stripper and male population will hang on for few more seconds regardless, even if it is a site about prostate cancer (Gog forbid)....

What if it is a site about particle physics trying to prove something weird.

It's not a video that will solve your problems.

You have to evaluate niche, competitors, see what they have and think WHY YOUR SITE IS BETTER... then implement.

If visitors likes your blog they stay long-time. So you need to expect what visitors expectations.
- Try to post attractive post with short and simple title.
- use subtitles , relevant images, videos, etc.
- if you can use infograpic for your topic.
- make your blog different from others like events..

High bounce rate is bad for your Website. Instead of increase you have try it to decrease it by posting unique and quality content, Improve site Loading Time.

Make your website more engaging and relevant. Have multiple pages with clear navigation. Have internal links in your articles that should engage people into clicking for further information and all.
