How do I increase domain authority?

according my knowledge you can increase DA of your website by the following ways:
1.high quality content creation
2.on page seo (in which keyword research is more important)
3.off page SEO (this is the most important for increasing DA of websites through backlinks)
4. by guest posting.

These days no one pays attention to domain authority metrics. You should also not pay much attention to this.

Make backlinks. You already stated the reason in second line.
 
Good authority backlinks with leass spam score will help you to increase DA.
But DA is not only limited to backlinks only. Try to build authority for your site, this is more important.

To build authority you can do the following -
  • Post consistently on your site.
  • Provide valuable content.
  • Try to keep the bounce rate low.
  • try to drive more organic visitors to your blog.
There are many other things that you can consider, but these are a few that come to my mind based on my experience. You can also search more on Google as well...

Buy a few same niche expired domains with good backlink profile then 301 them to your site.

After that try and build 10 new high DA backlinks every day. Do all that, and as long and as your on page and technical SEO is good, you will rank well - depending on the KD of your niche…..

Acquiring some backlinks preferably from strong websites in your niche or related industries, would not just boost your authority but equally help your site rank.

What you should be more concerned with should be ranking not increase in metrics.

DA is a made up metric that is meant to simplify the audit of backlink profile.

Having high DA doesn't guarantee ranking, or even the ability to rank for medium competition KWD in the same way that having low DA doesn't prevent you from ranking.

Generally, there are many things that exist without being useful for ranking. A cabbage would be a good example.
