How do I highlight all hyperlinks in Word 2016?

Hi,

how can I locate all hyperlinks in a word 2016 document? (and yes, I did google it and found a few ways of doing it manually each time I open up a document, but that's not what I want... or rather it's not everything that I want).

I have 30+ documents of many words each and each one of these documents contains dozens of hyperlinks, but the worst part is that all these hyperlinks (visited or not) are of the same colour as the text. So, going through 10s of 1000s of words to manually identify and colour these hyperlinks will take me a few days at the very least, which I don't have.

Moreover, I can't figure out for the life of me how to create and save a style that gets automatically selected each time I open up a new document. Or, if it doesn't get automatically selected, at least I want it to bloody get saved in the list of recommended styles... or anything, really.

I need a way to automate this hyperlinks highlighting process which automatically colors (in the same colour, but one that I manually select) all of the hyperlinks upon document opening in word 2016 but - like I said - I can't figure out how to do it and the internet didn't help me, either.

If anyone knows how to do this please let me know!

1. Press Alt+F9 to turn the ‘show field codes’ option on in the entire document. This is essential. (You can also do this by going to File> Options > Advanced > Show Document Content section, checking the Show field codes instead of their values checkbox, then clicking OK to close the Options window.)
2. Select a highlight colour from the Home tab > Font group. This is also essential.
3. Open the Find and Replace window (Ctrl+h).
4. In the Find field, type ^d hyperlink (Note: lower case ‘d’; this looks for a hyperlink field [^d]).
5. In the Replace field, type ^& (this replaces what is found with itself).
6. Click More.
7. Click Format.
8. Select Highlight.
9. Click Find Next, then Replace on the first one found. Check that the hyperlink field code is highlighted—if it isn’t go back to Step 4 and choose a highlight colour.
10. If you’re satisfied that it works, click Replace All. This will highlight all hyperlink fields.
11. Press Alt+F9 again to hide the field codes and return to normal text display. (tThis is the same as File> Options > Advanced > Show Document Content section, uncheck the Show field codes instead of their values checkbox, then click OK to close the Options window.)

@Stewielenor it didn't work, but thanks for the tutorial. I'll redo it again later, maybe I've missed something important.

But do I have to do this for every document separately? Or do the highlighted hyperlinks remain highlighted? And also, does this still work if the hyperlinks are already visited?

@Stewielenor EDIT: nevermind, it worked. I don't know why I couldn't make it work on the 1st document, but all is good now
