How do I get some starting links to a forum?

Hi,

I have to go to the doctors soon and hopefully he will give me some Ritalin or something. This is ADHD medication (basically stimulants that help you focus) for those who don't know. The problem is that I already find it hard to not spam places- BHW, Twitter, friends on Discord- and if I didn't then all of these places would probably ban me. I'm talking 20 posts an hour, 16 hours a day BAD spamming if I get out of control.

I've made a forum to go and talk to myself on, to post as multiple people because I can do what 3, 4 people can do in the same amount of time. I don't want to screw up any links I post there if I do link back to my own websites, so some starter backlinks are required.
Any place to get some starter links for a forum? I've run it through the Default settings for GSA Indexer though I have no idea on whether or not it does anything. Just looking for some extra places to link the forum to get some backlinks through to it.

I don't need the secret tricks each player has, and probably shouldn't share. Just some common knowledge starter links if that's OK.

I genuinely don't understand you: why would you need backlinks if you're creating the forum just to cope with your... whatever that condition is?? And you can get links from anywhere, web 2.0s, article directories, profiles on various websites, etc. If you already have access to software like GSA (which apparently you do) you can use that software to get links. But why you need them? Sorry, I really don't understand what you're trying to achieve.

I'm just looking for some links so it isn't a 0 backlink fully fresh website which might link out to my website in the future. I don't mind doing a little bit of work, the practise will be good anyway. SEO is kind of fking me right now

SEO itself means you are going to attract new visitors to your forum, which you are not looking for in fact.
Just keep things as they are and sooner or later with your permission or not someone will place link to your forum somewhere so you will get some organic link building start.

I don't think you should be focusing on building links for SEO purposes.

Instead, I would focus more on starting meaningful discussions on your forum. After all, that's what they're for.

You can copy a lot of questions from places like Quora. Do yourself a big favor. Copy only relevant questions that have a lot of followers.

Once you have a nice set of threads focusing on questions that get a lot of answers on Quora, you should then create accounts on your forum to answer the questions.

Again, you can source the info from Quora and mimic some sort of social interaction.

Ideally, you should crowdsource your forum "activity" so that things look natural. Before you know it, you would have enough fake interaction on your forum to attract real users.

Avoiding the Empty Restaurant Effect

Just like with new social media accounts, new forums suffer from a chicken-or-egg problem. You can't get new users if there's no existing activity. You can't get activity if you don't have any users.

The most obvious solution here, of course, is to simulate activity. And by doing so, you create social proof. You show to people who find your website that there is some activity, and some of them might want to join.

By keeping this up for an extended period of time, you will be able to grow organic interactions.

Make no mistake. Starting a forum and managing it to success are two totally different things.

It's too easy to start a forum. It's almost impossible to build one that is a commercial success.

Still, if you just want to set up a forum that can help you with self-help issues or which focuses on a fairly narrow range of needs, a much smaller scale version of the strategy that I've just described might work in your situation.
