How do I get more people to my forum?

Hello I own a forum and I would like to grow an active community of people.
How would I go about doing this?

Find similar forums, offer better features than their current forum, recruit them to yours.

Find FB pages related to your forum. Advertise your forum like crazy there.

You have to reach the threshold line and then the traffic will start growing itself.

You'll probably have to fill the forum up with fake threads and posts, then do some SEO for it and hope that people find it and become active members.

Also, you can advertise it on other forums and do some e-mail blasts within the niche of the forum.

Promotion to your niche through SEO/PPC/social media.

Then converting them into members make your forum look active and interestings topics people in that niche will want to read.
