Hi Everyone
I have a 2-3 yr old domain with around 2-3 hundred manually submitted links to directories and bookmarking sites and such, for low competition keywords

The prob is when i go to Webmasters Google only recognizes 9 of these links..... seriously.

Is there something that im missing? the links have been submitted for months you would think that would be enough time for them to be crawled? Is there something I have to do?

If you need any clarifications just ask

I have put a lot of work into this any advice is greatly appreciated.

The best thing you can do is continuously ping and bookmark them. You can't really predict which links will be picked up by the big G, and they definitely do not index every single link you make.

I would take the links you made that have top priority, and try to get them indexed using the same methods you would to get your normal site indexed.

You can ping all of your backlinks.

Also, try building backlinks to your backlinks (Pyramid linking) and then pinging the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. tiers.

Google webmasters isn't a good gauge as they purposely withhold info on what backlinks they see. Checking to see if the sites with your link updated are indexed is the best way. A good general backlink check is also yahoo site explorer.

As for getting better index rates, have you looked into Linklicious? It is run by a member here and has produced great results for many here, including myself.

Thanks for all the speedy suggestions I feel like i got my dick slammed in the door (except that would be less painful).
I will definitely try pinging the sites and Linklicious
Google has crawled all these links, for example if I search my domain in Google over I get over 200 some odd results with referral sites and directories
Should I follow these links to my site would that help?

I dont want this thread to die yet especially because this info is likely to help other people.
Almost all of the BLs are indexed but if I check the domain on any link checker service almost none are registered, and our SERP (on google) is somewhere between s*** and non existent. (on Bing and Yahoo we do great ironically)
So if you tell me I need to keep plugging away at the BLs and start investing time into social media that's fine because at least there is hope for better rankings.
So is there hope or should I change directions?

Directories, bookmarking sites... they're more low quality type links so not surprising really if they don't show up in the back link checkers. Sounds like you need better "contextual" backlinks which will help move you up the SERPs.. looks at building some linkwheels/pyramids and then bookmark etc. those sites/pages.
