How do I get freelance work as a python coder?

I have been trying upwork sending out proposals but no1 answers me.

I hate the 'sell yourself' bullshit that comes with the job. I just wanna code and get paid.

I looked on the freelance section here today but doesn't seem much on offer at the moment either.

I just want some small projects as a sideline to marketing for now.

Honestly, I've only had one bite in the freelance section, and it was nice to get paid for my work it felt really validating, but you do have to do a lot of sifting. Try Craigslist, freelancer.com, and fiverr. Unfortunately, when you're not part of a company, you have to do all the work getting clients, and there's a lot of freelancers out there so start cheap unless you are exceptionally skilled and have work to show off to warrant a higher price.

May I ask what your proposals look like? Maybe we can help you improve your proposals in order for you to get more projects/jobs to be hired for.

Have you tried your best to offer those guys who are looking for coders solution that they can't resist, with letting them know that you understand what the entire project is all about? And not signing up for the project like "I can do this!"...

Have you tried to be online all the time and to be one of the first few coders applying for the project? Especially to the "urgent" projects?

When I was looking for jobs and working as a freelancer I always looked at what project poster is looking for and trying to find best cost effective solution for them. On the other side when I'm hiring someone for any type of work done I just need to make sure that we are on the same page before even taking time and getting into deeper conversation about project.

Ye the legwork sucks. I am thinking it is better to just focus on my marketing projects. Like you say I was interested in it mainly for the validation aspect and because I enjoy coding most out of my marketing projects. I thought that I could do 'pure coding' as a freelancer but now I see it wouldnt be like that as 50% or more is writing some bullshit about yourself trying to get people to see you.

and before people say no it isnt the same kind of marketing as blackhat, it is boring compared to blackhat stuff altho maybe it is possible to blackhat your profiles on those upwork etc sites. which might be something to think about.

I much prefer the non coding aspects of marketing to having to beg to get a job now that I have studied it further so I guess I will stick with plan A
