How do I get clients from freelancing at 17?

Since I'm 17, I can't use Upwork or Fiverr till next year. I also got banned from freelancing on my father's account on Upwork so that's that, and Fiverr never really worked out to me. How do I find clients thus?

Forums, reddit, facebook, what do you do?

Do you have specific skillset as a freelancer? Give us a bit more information on what you do
If you had clients on Upwork thats a good sign, since i believe the competition there must be really big in most categories

Facebook groups (local marketing from your city) could work well imo ?

Use forums and small biz groups on social media. Offer simple services like audits or fixes.

Many clients come from direct messages not big platforms.

This is going to cause even more trouble in the long run if you don't know what you are doing.

I also got started with programming when I was a teenager. But to be confident in what I did, it took me almost half a decade.

I did work for some "freelancers" in the meantime but I never charged them anything, since my work was probably too crappy for their requirements. I just did it so that I could learn from working on real-life projects.


Look, you don't have to be a freelancer to earn money. You can totally apply as a fresher for a 9-5 job (yeah, it is a tough industry probably... but then it is a number game. Apply for 100 jobs, you will get one atleast). Use your free time to practice what you wish to become.

My two cents.

Or You can rent a ready-made account in your country or another country using remote access to the rented PC with the account.
But it's better to find a stable job!

at that age I'd skip platforms and go direct, post your work on social media and start messaging small creators or local businesses who clearly need help
