I need help with getting a .gov negative article about my business pushed to the 2nd page of Google. Is it possible to do it on my own? THANKS!

It's possible, but certainly not easy. There is a reason most rep management companies charge 4+ figures to do this, possibly even more since it is a .gov site.

The easiest way is to find other sites on the first 2-3 pages and do a lot of SEO to those pages to try to push them ahead.

Edavy,

Aside from getting it removed by whomever posted it, the only option you have is to drown it in positive information. You might read the article and try to write original pieces like it and post them on your own website or on other websites/properties that you create. The more information you push out there, the more diluted one negative piece becomes.

Best,

Shawn

there are a couple of great threads on here about how to do it. I believe with some SEO knowledge one could do it for themselves, with little to none you should read the how to's on here with the throught process of determining who you are going to hire.

THANK YOU TO ALL! I WILL TAKE your advice!

Ranking sites above the negative ones is the best approach in order to push the negative stuff down. LinkedIn is good. Creating a website with your name in the URL is good. Youtube Channel with your name is good.

yes! you are right...thanks again for this idea!

The fact is you can't. Even if you were to remove the offending article it will
still be available in the cache.
Your only option is to SEO the article into the nether regions.

I would say you can't. Rather over rank it with a positive article :-)

Just build lots and lots of good reviews and do negative SEO on that article and that should solve the problem. And then try to improve your business so you don't get negative reviews anymore.

So True! Thanks for the idea of negative seo on the article!

Go to a Reputation Management company. Pay them some decent amount and they can get it done for you.

To those interested in this issue. I do RM for a living. There are a number ways to push negative reviews for example off the 1st page of the SERPS. And it does not have to be just positive reviews. Yes LinkedIn is one option. You can also use Web 2.0 properties like wordpress.com, Tumblr.com and Facebook (fan pages) as just a few examples.

You can PM for more info on this process.

it will take you years to do on your own and you probably will never be successful doing it. you can do some n-seo to it but there's no guarantee that will not make it worse. Buddy of mine used nuprofile.com a reputation management firm and spent a lil under 10k and got two sec.gov listings off page 1. Your other option is to post more and be more active in the community and somebody may be willing to teach you. Please share the search term so we can attempt to help.
