I want to clone my wordpress blog (posts, pages, plugins, settings etc. etc.) and edit them to suit another topic. How do I go about doing this? What is the fastest way?

The fastest way if your not technical would be to use BackupBuddy.

    1) Backup
    2) Upload backup and script to new host
    3) Create MYSql DB
    4) Run script
    5) Input Mysql user name / database name / password
    6) Hit enter

Done log in and edit new cloned Blog.

haven't tried that one yet (but have it).

I've been cloning sites using wp-twin (from download section). works same. I set up a basic site the way I want it and then clone it - for the new site you'll have to change the username, a few other things once it's set up. that's it.

I have a video that I made for my outsourcing slaves on how to do this. I thought it was going to be short but ended up being 30-35 minutes.

Basically you need to export database via phpmyadmin
get the sql file. Run through global search & replace
and replace any mention of www.youfirstdomainthatmakesmoney.com
    to www.youseconddomainthatwillmakeyourich.com

then you need to edit wp-config.php to point to new database and new username

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Looks good but I prefer BackupBuddy because it's paid I get access to support and I know it's going to be upgraded and always be compatible with all WP versions. I love and use free WP plugins but when it's something as important as automatic scheduled backups and migration I can't afford to have anything go wrong so I'm happy to pay.
