How do I find a product's download service

Hi,

I'm new to this amazing site so please forgive me if I've got this posted in the wrong place and let me know where I should post.

I see a lot of products offered in the download area, which makes me wonder how to find the download service for a particular product. For example, if there's a CB product or someone offering something off their own site, how can I determine where the download would come from so I can find the best tool to acquire it.
