How do i do this photoshop text effect?

I want to replicate this exact same pic. How do i replicate the outline in the text? Is it shadow and 3D? if someone can do it and send me the PSD, i'd really appreciate it

I don't think it's a shadow at all. I'm pretty sure it's the way the image was saved. It was saved as a gif with only 8 colors. That's why the blue outline is kind of pixelated. I tried my best to replicate it, but it was hard to get just right mainly because I have no idea what font was used.

it looks good but how did you add the blue though? I see in ps it says u put an effect, and it says stroke below that

You just double click the layer for the text and you should see blending options. Click on stroke and it will give an outline around it. To customize the outline just double click stroke and you can change the color, opacity, width, etc.

In the original post with your picture it looks to be a drop shadow to me except a different color. You add a drop shadow the same way. Go to blending options, click drop shadow and to customize the drop shadow just double click on that option and you can change the color of the shadow in there.
 
You Guys forgot Bevel and Emboss! Thats what there in that image which seems like black shadow on inner side of font and a drop shadow or stroke in blue color. Thats it.

I did try bevel & emboss, but obviously the outline was to perfect which is why mine came out a bit different.

Looks like a 1px stroke with transparent text, an inner-glow of black and inner-shadow of blue.
 
Looks like Bevel & Emboss - at such a small size you could use the Drop Shadow but B & E has more subtle tweeks available if you want to do larger. Anyway, try the B & E set to outer bevel, change the technique to one of the chisel options, direction down, size around 1px, angle -45 deg, choose the desired colour for highlight mode.

Then adjust the Lossy slider when outputting the GIF file as this will change the pixelization around the text etc.

You can do this by creating a text with white font. Then applying Drop Shadow with a Normal blend mode. And then increase the spread and opacity. Lastly, choose a good angle.

I don't know if the distortion was an affect, or caused by its poor quality lol. If it is an effect, playing with Bevel and Emboss will give your text some texture.
 
Why not be creative.. and use your own imagination.. Instead of replicating?
 
Sometimes when you see something you like, the best thing to do is try duplicating it to learn the technique. Once you figure out how to do it, then you can be more creative in the future.

Just like with learning to paint. There's a reason artists spend some time duplicating paintings from the masters.
 
How I'd go about doing it:

-new image w/ transparent background

-use white text

-add a layer style by clicking Layer at the top of the screen and then Layer Style(or the "fx" button on bottom right of the screen)

-chose Stroke with your opacity set to 100%


Second way I'd go about it is google search "how to outline your text in photoshop".

Instead of using the Stroke Layer Style you can also use the Drop Shadow option. I think that was actually what was used on the original image because of the Noise level on the outline of the text.

If you use the drop mode I suggest using Blend Mode Normal, Angle 0% (or uncheck "use global light") and Distance set to 0(so your drop shadow is centered over the text.
 
Hi! It seems like a combination of bevel and emboss and a full opacity drop shadow. You can set the angle of the emboss to 120 degrees and the shadow maybe between 90 degrees to 95 degrees. Then use white as color fill for your text and blue for the drop shadow. :)
