How do I do Outreach Properly for Link-building?

I got more than 100 responses from my personal outreach. The price ranges from $20 to $200. I manually checked the sites, and most of them are real, high-authority sites. Shall I go ahead and build links to these sites?

I hope @HenryObi and @tazarbm can help me. Are 20 links from DR 40+ sites enough to get good results for a site targeting very low-competitive keywords? Should I do any other verifications before picking the domains?

if your definition of low competition is the same as my definition then yes, 20 links are enough.

But the problem is that google prefers authority sites most of the time, so even if you point all 20 links to the same page (which I don't recommend that you do) you might still not rank for that "low competition" keyword if you're up against high authority sites and they beat you with both content and links. Not to mention the topical authority and site structure and on-site SEO, which are a big plus, too...

This being said - if you do have the money - do get all 20 backlinks but point most of them to the homepage... or at least half of them point to the homepage with a mix of branded and naked URL anchors, and the other half spread over 3-4 informational pages, including the one you try to rank for that low competition keyword.

Regarding the verifications, if the sites are ranking and get organic traffic that would be good enough for me. As long as google likes a site all other verifications are unnecessary most of the time. Now, if you do check the sites in more depth and you notice - for example - that their indexed pages and / or keywords have been CONTINUOSLY dropping in the last few weeks / months then that's a clear sign that something's wrong with those sites and that getting a backlink from them will stop being valuable soon.

But it's highly unlikely that you'll find many such sites that are going bad, so 1 or 2 such fails could be acceptable if the other 18+ links are good...

And is it normal to receive such a huge number of responses from a cold outreach? Did I do it correctly, unfortunately? This is the first time I wanted to try guest posting. I used to depend on my own PBN. It is really hard to find good domains, host them, and maintain them. That's why I wanted to give it a try.

no idea if it's normal because I never did outreach for guest posting. But I can't see anything wrong with it. If you did approach them professionally and they liked your site, I don't see any problem with the results of your outreach.

Just do your due diligence regarding the prices and the quality of the sites and you should be fine! The only problem I could see happening is google penalizing you for getting 20 links at once, sometimes this is bad for fresh sites (less than 1 month old) and / or sites that have no other backlinks.

But if you can spread the 20 links over 3-4 months that would be a great success, I can guarantee that you'll not have a single issue with the backlinking velocity as long as you don't fuck up the anchors

Okay. It's not a new website. My site is on the second page for the main keywords which has no backlinks. That's why I wanted to build backlinks. However, your answer is quite helpful. Thanks again.

One mention: I would personally chose a DR20+ site, but with a larger number of quality and contextual RDs (the fresher the better), rather than a 40+ DR, but with just a few old RDs. You should consider this when you do the research.

If you filtered those sites until they meet your requirements, and your approach was as good as get the guest posts for free, I just can say big congratulations!

Yes, a few are actually high-authority sites. Let me try to post the content and update this post if they are approved.

Yes go ahead and build the links if the sites are a good fit.

I really don't take DA or DR into consideration as we all know they can be gamed. What you should focus more on are;
1. Organic traffic from the sites
2. Organic keywords
3. Relevancy to your site.
4. Number of quality backlinks said site has. Not just overall number of links, but number of quality ones.


If the four of them are good or the first 3 are good. Then you're good to go. The nice thing is most sites with all 4 in good numbers(several tens of thousands) tend to equally have high DA/DR but the reverse is not always the case.

Outreach for link-building should be done by researching potential link partners, personalizing your outreach emails, and providing value to the recipient. You should also track your progress and follow up with recipients.
