Hi,

does anyone know how to disable autoplay on Youtube? I am using Brave (and toying around with Librewolf at the moment) because I can't stand the insane aggression of YT anymore. I have Ublock Origin, Ghostery, Disable HTML5 Autoplay, etc and neither of these things prevent me from watching YT ads-free or even from autoplaying them.

In Brave, autoplay is stopped by using the "Disable HTML5 Autoplay (Reloaded)" extension, but this extension doesn't exist on Librewolf, therefore the vids start playing automatically whenever I click on them, and none of the Librewolf extensions that are supposed to prevent this work, so I'm clueless what else to do.

If any of you has any free solution please share it! Thanks in advance!

any ideas?

hey, man! I know about that button (although I believe that - in the typical scumbaggy fashioned way in which this mafia company operates - they've just removed it 1 month or so ago.... or I believe they've hidden the disabling of autoplay somewhere in YT's settings where people hardly ever look in)

But that's not the problem, I already had a browser extension take care of that button for a while, but the problem is that sometimes when you click on someone's channel and they have that default video on their channel's homepage the video starts autoplaying despite of all of my tricks and browser extensions blocking the crap out of these spammers (google)

And not even this, but in Librewolf the autoplay is only disabled if you right click on a video to open it in a new tab and then switch over to that tab. That's when the autoplay is disabled (and again, this only after I've installed a bunch of extensions, otherwise you're forced to do whatever google wants, which should be punishable on many levels). If I click on a video directly from YT's homepage the video outright starts autoplaying despite of all of the extensions and tricks I have up my sleeve. Talking about mafia-style forceful compliance, huh!

So anyway, to recap...

In Brave browser, I used to be able to block all ads and most autoplays until a month or so ago, but in the last few weeks - while the ads are still not autoplaying - I can still see a black screen (before the video starts) which should be the ad itself (but which the "Disable HTML5 Autoplay (Reloaded)" browser extension blocks) which will last for the duration of that particular ad that's trying to play, and then the video start.

And this forced ad has made me want to switch to another browser (Librewolf in this case since this is the last bastion, all other browsers have already been compromised by google), but the problem with Librewolf is that the autoplay is not disabled because the above mentioned browser extension is not available to Librewolf, and all other alternatives don't stop autoplaying either, so I'm out of ideas and options.

I would like a free solution to blocking all ads and disabling all types of autoplay EVERYWHERE (on the channel's homepage, in the video's page, regardless of whether I open up the videos in new tab or in the same tab, I just want this whole aggression to stop so I can watch the videos whenever I want, however I want, without google forcing their shit down my throat right when I'm about to watch something).

Is there any solution to this, or am I doomed? Odysee and Rumble are not even popular enough and either they've already been acquired by google behind closed doors (as is the case with Odysee), or are downright worse (Rumble) than YT because you can't even view comments without having an account with them. Total madness, I'm telling you... this society needs to fall and it needs to fall badly, or else we won't even be able to breathe without the written permission of these mafia corporations...
