Hey all,

Just wondering how i can change my dang IP and thought maybe someone else that has embarq could offer some insight.

I've gone the unplugging, waiting and replugging route and also through a process involving DOS with no luck.

Much appreciated BHers!

Release will typically just renew your internal IP.
You need to reset the modem.
Easiest way is to unplug and plug back in.

But to do it via software you need to log into your modem (password required).
SImply:
Hit windows key and "R"
Then type in CMD , thenenter
enter "Ipconfig /all"
look for the Gateway IP address.
Then enter it in you IE.
it is usually 192.169.1.254

Then paly wiht your modem and look for reset system.
I'm sure if you google your modem model number you can get some help finding the menu.

ipconfig/release does not seem to work for me.

Again, the unplugging and replugging did not work for me.

But Good idea to google modem # though. But it's just an embarq modem, not like a surfboard modem you can buy at the store.

Thanks both and More suggestions much appreciated, ESPECIALLY if you've got embarq =P

After all this question has been asked at least a hundred times here, and half of the times it was explained real well.

I suggest you to search this forum for your answer as all possible methods to get a new lease were already discussed (and again and again)

Yes... I noticed.

And i created this thread because i have not found a way that works with embarq DSL...

If you meant to just suggest I search the forum that's fine... But since you obviously don't know the answer, why bother posting.... I've seen a bunch of your negative posts around (again and again...) At least I believe that was you... weird triangle eye thingy... could have been someone else with a weird triangle eye thingy avatar... in which case my apologies.

Thanks to everybody else.
