I am considering buying quality backlinks to improve my site ranking.
I've always known that you need to be a bit careful though when you buy it - can someone give a run down of all the things I need to be aware of?

Questions like (but not limited to):

- Where to buy it
- How to check the quality or safety of the offer
- How to minimize risk of Google penalty
- How does Google even know
- How to get niche related etc.

etc

I'd suggest you to do a google search "buying quality backlinks", and not buying any links here before you do excess research what's pros and cons.
 
You have to decided it first whether you are looking to earn back links or you are going to buy backlinks.

Earning backlinks
If you are going to build backlinks on your own means, you should be an expertize in competitors analysis, Domain analysis and best content creator. Then only you can get the SERP movement.


Buying backlinks
Fix your SEO goals before going to approach the sellers. Find out the best agency or back link provider by reading review and testimonial ( some of them fake though ). You should consult with them. until you are convincing don't through any money to them.

Google points of view buying backlink itself is not acceptable. So you have to look for the best sellers who are ready to explain the full strategical plan to avoid the foot prints.

Conclusion
Finally, Somewhere you have to believe someone. You can try BHW market place link building section sellers. As far as I know you have the option to report to the moderator if you are not getting what they promise you.
 
The best backlinks are bought manually from other blogs/websites. Lots of work but worth it.
 
Buying links is the worse thing you could do for SEO. It would not help you with ranking.

The best way to rank on Google is adding quality content on your website (i.e. should not be copied from other places).

Then create a youtube channel and add couple of videos with the same content and add a link to your website in description.

Quora can bring you lot of traffic, reply couple of question regarding your niche and put a link there.

If you do everything correctly your website would be ranking in google in a very short period of time.
 
Buy from a reliable service provider. Good quality backlinks will provide good results. Make sure the backlinks are from the niche relevant sites. You ask the service provider for samples to check their quality and blogs availability. Check the price with other service providers as well. Then make a selection
 
Guest post is where it's at. You can find places that accept posts and write or buy content for it or hire someone to do it. Expect to pay either way.

PBN can be tricky. I have never had a PBN link hurt my ranking. But MOST PBN links you buy will be deindexed in less than six months, your link is lost and you are back to square one. If you do decide to buy PBN links there are two that you should consider, those that block third party crawlers or better yet providers that charge a monthly fee.

If third party crawlers are blocked the PBN's will go undetected for a lot longer and will not get deindexed nearly as quick if at all. When you rent the links the provider has a vested interest in keeping that site alive. If the site gets deindexed they will have to provide you a link on another site. These types of sites are indistinguishable from a real website, so chances of getting deindexed is nearly nonexistent.

No? then start with these?

2. do you have SOCIAL SIGNALS
2.1 did you registerd on ALL SM PLATFORMS?
No? then do these?

3. Are you allready in yellow pages, yelp, ect...?
No? then do these?

(when you dont know the words in the uppercase letters GOOGLE it)

After these is all done, you can think about your backlink strategy.
 
as others have mentioned: buy from BHW sellers, since you have a way of resolving issues if needed. also buy from sellers who are active outside of their sales threads in helping others. if you see a seller who just sells and has no involvement in any other thread and helping others: stay away. my 2 cents

those sellers who are active in helping others are building a personal brand and they do not want to ruin it by selling shitty packages and making you unhappy.
 
Where to buy it?
You can do manual outreach or try in BHW marketplace. PBN and guest posting as much value.

Check with site quality and referring domains to get good result.
