How Do I Block Spam/Unwanted Posts On Wordpress Comments

I am building a wordpress website at the moment and I realise the type of site it is going to be it could well be susceptible to unwelcomed comments and views...not good right.

I was wondering if there is a script/plugin or something that can filter/block certain words or phrases? I did search but nothing really.

Does that mean there is none

I dont want a whole load of F'ing and C'ing on my website

Anybuddy!?!?

I use the Akismet plugin against spam. Wordpress has a build in Comment Blacklist, you can find it under Settings -> Discussion; in that section you can also set the number of links a comment may contain before it's held for moderation.

Use the method above and there is also a plugin called WP-Politifier but it only gets 3 stars on the wordpress.com, may suit your needs or could be modified.

What do you mean? ^

I was thinking about this actually today and I can just add a captcha for posting, this will do fo what i am creating.

Yeah, maybe captcha or the Akismet plugin or both if you wanna be strict =)

Personally I dont like Akismet because it is blocking a lot of non spam comments and it also blocking one of my WH site now and Im really pissed off.
There are loophole in their system and obviously prone to abuse.

Better use captcha or math questions.

Yes use WP Spamfree, since i can spam the crap out of that on autopilot.

yea there are too many tools these days to comment like a madman.. but yea akismet is the easiest to set up and blocks most things..

I use WP-Spamfree as well. You may want to look at just turning comments off (in your setup options for the entire blog). That way you know you will not get any spam.

well, just to tell you that I can spam shit out of wp spamfree, so you might consider a different plugin

YYeah, thing is i do want comments on the particular page im setting up it increases the visit count. Think a simple captcha will work best and it increases the perceptive credibility a little of what im creating.
