How do I add categories to main menu Item.

I tried adding categories to menu using custom link. Will not work.

I have over 40 categories, if I add each one to menu, menu will be filled up. I need a drop down menu with the categories. As you can see it didn't work.

please I need help and tutorials are really really vague that don't help at all. I been paying for hosting for 2 years and still havn't built this website. I'm losing hope guys. I have nothing to do during the day this website is my only shot at being something in this world.

You can make

Categories
Sub-category 1
Sub-Category 2
Sub-Category 3

Like this it will work , you need to figure out how many main categories are there and you want to place them in menu.

You don't need to create any pages or any subcategories. You can just make a menu, indent your categories under whatever you're using for the top level page, and then assign it to the menu spot on your theme.

SOMEONE answered for me but I'm confused.

So I can make a Category called Categories? Then make all the rest of the categories a sub category under Categories?

Will this effect SEO?

If you are in Wordpress, then go to the settings, add subcategories under the menu category via drag and drop facility.

you mean make a category called "categories" and then add every other category as a sub category?

LOL dude u sound so dramatic. All you have to do is hit appearance then menu, by the side you should see the Categories tab by the side on the left just before the Dashboard menu of your wordpress. Hit it and click VIEW ALL you should see the categories, simply drag and drop wherever you want in your menu.
